Default Microphone input.

I just bought a cheap microphone with a jack plug and it's plugged into my microphone socket an the back of my G4 powermac but I just can't get it working. I tried changing settings for it but it just won't work, any ideas what I can try. I turned up the volume on it but it doesn't work.

I presume you mean you went to the Sound Control Panel/Input and switched to "Line In" and messed with the input volume? Is there an on/off button on the mic itself (no offense, but I'm guilty of that one)? Is there another way you can make sure the cheap mic actually works?

Yeah thats what I ment wasn't very clear there lol. Theres no button on the mic I'm gonna take it to my sisters tomorrow and try it on hers it's XP but I can't see it being a compatability issue if it's only a jack plug.

Well I finally got around to testing my mic and it works fine on 2 windows pc's. It's looking to me like my mic in port on my mac is busted
