that will change a bunch of file names.
Such as when you down load pics from your cam you give the folder a name and it names all the pics "Day at the park 001 through 075" I want to be able to change the names to such as "Picture 500 " depending on what the last file number in a givin folder is, with out having to rename each and every Pic one at a time.

Sorry for the confusion Paul. Thats why I posted in alternate os'es.
I could transfer them all to the Mac and then transfer them all back I guess, if it comes down to it. M$ never makes anything easy do they

You can use Automator for that. It's in the Finder commands.
Are you able to create a share on the PC and mount it on the mac? If so you'd be all set. Otherwise, you'll have to search for "batch rename files" at versiontracker.com (PC section) or download.com etc

I don't know about Windows but if you can mount the PC via your Mac, check Quick Image a FREE contextual menu that does that and a whole lot more. I wouldn't live without it anymore.

Renamer4Mac does a great job at bulk renaming of files. Easy, fast and powerful. Oh yeah, it's freeware too!
I keep a copy of it for download here: http://www.glinder.com/files/MacOSXSoftwar...so=Alphabetical Here is a versiontracker.com search page full of renaming utilities for Windows. http://www.versiontracker.com/php/search.p...windows&x=0&y=0 |
